Riding: For those who want to get out and about then
a visit to the Tsodili Hills is a possibility, a desert range
of rock hills that have been home to the bushmen for over
35,000 years and are filled with legends and myth.
Wildlife/Safari: The most famous of its attractions
is the Okavango Delta, a huge area of wetland that the Okavango
river flows into and disappears, making it one of the very
few rivers in the world not to run into the sea. The Delta
is a must for those who wish to Safari, as the landscape and
style of trip is almost unique. The normal form of transport
used is the "mokoro", a locally made dugout canoe
that is poled along the shallow waterways and lagoons. Most
travellers either camp on one of the dry islands that exist
within the delta or stay in one of the comfortable lodges.
The safari is done either by boat or on foot, and while the
wildlife is plentiful and varied, the surroundings are truly
unique. The best of the Game parks for animals is Chobe, home
to most types of big African game and especially famous for
its elephants. Here it is possible to see some of the largest
herds left in Africa, often numbering up to several hundred
and to watch as they feed and bath. Within the park are the
Savuti marshes, the remnant of a long vanished lake and another
wonderful haven for wildlife.
