Walking/Trekking: The Fish River Canyon is nearly
100 miles long, eroded over many centuries by the Fish River
and a beautiful and unique landscape. It is an ideal place
for walking, with trails in the gorge and rough camping.
White Water: Despite the presence of the deserts and
pans, there are plenty of options for the water fan. Rivers
such as the Orange are ideal for canoeing and rafting and
generally enjoying the landscapes of this fascinating country.
Wildlife/Safari: Namibia's two most famous attractions
however are Etosha National Park and the Fish River Canyon.
Etosha National Park is centred on the Etosha Pan, a huge
salt flat desert which is rarely flooded but whose springs
attract animals throughout the year. To safari here you need
time as the distances are large and facilities are provided
by three rest camps within the park, but the effort is well
worth it..
