Archaeology: When you ask somebody about Peru the
first thing they often mention are the Incas and the ruins
of the lost city of Machu Pichu. The lost civilisation of
the Incas is still one of the worlds great mysteries, how
a culture so advanced could rise and fall so completely leaving
only material proof of its greatness. Another mystery that
Peru's past has left us are the Nasco lines, enormous patterns
and pictures laid out on the plains that have no viewing point
other than by aircraft. For what purpose where they built
- as offerings to the gods or messages to beings from outer
space? Another secret that the history of Peru has kept to
itself.
Cultural Tours: When you ask somebody about Peru the

of the Incas is still one of the worlds great mysteries, how
a culture so advanced could rise and fall so completely leaving
only material proof of its greatness. Other things not to
miss are visits to the Amazon rain forest where it is possible
to go on either walking or canoe safaris into the jungle,
boating to the reed-platform villages on lake Titicaca and
walking to the sand dune desert to the south of the country.

Riding: As well as the ride to Machu Pichu it is possible
to pony trek in many of the mountain valleys. This is after
all the traditional way to get around.
Walking/Trekking: For the walking enthusiast no trip
to Peru would be complete without the camping trek into the
ruins of Machu Pichu, the lost city of the Incas which was
only rediscovered a few decades ago and gives up a tantalising
glimpse at the race which built it. For those who want tougher
walking there is some of the best and most scenic trekking
to be had in all the Andes in some of the higher mountain
valleys such as the Cordiero Blanca.
