Thailand is famous as a holiday
destination, mainly thanks to its world-famous beaches that
were some of the first in Asia to become popular holiday spots.
In particular the resorts on Phuket and Koh Samui now offer
luxury accommodation and comprehensive facilities to the traveller
who wants to visit the country and be pampered for a week or
two.
Thailand also has some of the best preserved historical sites
in Asia, its long history as the Kingdom of Siam still visible
most notably in the ruined and deserted City of Ayuthaya. The
history runs up to modern times, with Bridges and track from
the infamous Burma railway still visible at Kwai from the Second
World War.
